THE HONORABLE MENTION POST FOR AUGUST 11, 2006

RAKHI.JPGRakhi is a special ocassion that celebrates the bond of love between brother and sister. The ritual is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravan; sisters tie a sacred thread on their brother’s right wrist and pray for their long life. The thread symbolizes sisterly love and called ‘Rakhi’ which means ‘bond of protection’. As you know, I have no sister – not yet anyways, right Mom? – but I received not one but FOUR Rakhis yesterday! One from my Auntie Preeti, one from my Auntie Madhu and two from my cousins Titiksha and Archisha. I think this means I’m invincible now. – Kiran

MULTITASKING.JPG

My Dad’s been having some serious issues with the server at work. Here we are on a conference call with the tech guys. As I understand it, computers are made of microchips and circuits, so pressing all the buttons on the keyboard all at once wasn’t the quick fix I thought it would be. – Kiran

Word of the Day: Napping

Mom says that before I was born, Dad sometimes had insomnia. Since I was born, Dad doesn’t seem to have that problem anymore. In fact, Dad seems to like sleeping even more then I do. (Dad … Daaad …. DAD! You’re snoring again.) – Kiran
