Kiran and Shaan's World

Yesterday we celebrated the Autumn Moon Festival, a popular Chinese celebration of abundance and togetherness. The Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month when the moon is at its fullest and brightest, marking an ideal time to celebrate the abundance of the summer’s harvest. Traditionally, on this day, family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon and eat moon cakes, like we did. (‘No moon cakes for me this year, but my Po Po promised me that I’ll have plenty to eat next year.’) – Kiran

In the afternoon, I like to read magazines with Mom. But unlike most people, I like to turn the pages with my toes. – Kiran

[Chew, chew, chew…] My Mom didn’t tell you? I’m training for the International Chew-a-Thon Competition. [Chew, chew…] In the mornings I power-chew with Mr. Catepillar and in the afternoons I hit the gym with Mr. Buttah-fly. [Chew, chew, chew…] – Kiran

It’s Saturday! That means Dad and I can hang out all day together. (“Okay Dad, now move over so I can play on the X-box 360.”) – Kiran  

After dinner Dad and I like to unwind by taking an evening stroll through the park. We talk about how our respective day went (“Yup, Mom and I went to Target, again.”) and what’s new (“Guess what? I had peaches today!”). – Kiran
